Why this system has worked

Personal stories. Public lives. Greatness is not a feeling and not an agenda. It is a people who keep a written Constitution — and a government that does not get to set it aside when it is inconvenient.

The people

Douglass at a press. Robinson on a diamond. A new citizen in a courtroom. A teacher in Volusia. Greatness is a person using the creed in public.

The freedom

Speech you do not license. Worship you do not assign. Work you may choose. Leaders you may fire. Rights the state does not grant and therefore cannot casually take back.

The Constitution

Other systems bind the people to the party, the crown, or the man. Ours binds the government to a document. That is rare. It is why the house is still standing.
